CouchTrek 0.1.33 “Pelea” Is Live

CouchTrek is a crew-based spaceship command game built around one big screen and up to four players using their own devices as ship stations. One player logs in as captain on the main viewport, invites crew with a QR code, assigns roles, and leads the ship out of station into a shared galaxy full of other crews, NPCs, resources, missions, and danger.

Each crew operates a ship through specialized stations. The pilot handles navigation, targeting, weapons, mining, warp scramblers, fighters, and docking. Engineering manages diagnostics, map views, ship status, and what appears on the main screen. Communications handles scans, hails, agent conversations, room chat, global chat, private crew hails, and mission intel. The captain keeps overall control, manages money, ship selection, station storage, market orders, repairs, trades, and crew assignments.

The game now has a real economy. Ships, cargo, modules, blueprints, and resources exist in specific stations and do not magically teleport. Captains can buy and sell through the market, create orders, haul goods, trade with other crews, store cargo in stations, and sell resources or modules for credits. Hull destruction is permanent: if your ship explodes, the hull is gone, surviving cargo may drop as loot, and you respawn at your home station.

Space is divided into rooms inside star systems: station space, planet orbit, sun orbit, belts, stargates, pirate beacons, anomalies, and dungeon rooms. Stargates connect systems, autopilot can mark routes, and long range scans can reveal hidden sites. Other crews and NPCs appear on the same grid when they are in the same room.

Combat includes target locks, shields, hull damage, capacitor management, alerts, warp scrambling, fighters, doomsday weapons, loot drops, wrecks, alarms, and new music cues. Mining is now continuous, with mining ships receiving major bonuses. Larger ships hit harder and tank more, while haulers and freighters specialize in cargo.

Version 0.1.33 “Pelea” also adds faction mission groundwork. Players are treated as part of the Federated Corporate Conglomerate, with nearby factions offering transport, combat, and diplomacy missions through station agents. Communications can speak with agents, translate alien dialogue for the crew, and put conversations on the main viewport.

The prototype’s current endgame is the AntiFed Stronghold: a multi-room dungeon in Asterhold Spindle with escalating AntiFed enemies and rare blueprint drops. It is dangerous, expensive, and very funny when a capital ship dies in front of everyone.

CouchTrek is still early, strange, and very much alive, but the core fantasy is now working: gather a crew, undock together, survive the galaxy, make money, build better ships, and try not to become someone else’s wreck on the viewport.
